Our client is recruiting for an Assembly Associate to join their team at their manufacturing plant in Markham, ON. They offer a competitive hourly wage, superior benefits, great team environment and a state of the art employee lounge! They operate production 4 days per week (Mon – Thurs) with 10 hour shifts.
Overview of the Job:
The Assembly team builds “GOLD” air handling units using established Lean Manufacturing best practices in an agile flexible manufacturing team environment to meet production schedules and quality standards.
• College level mechanical aptitude or demonstrated ability to learn technical concepts.
• Blue-print reading ability from technical training or demonstrated ability.
• General computer knowledge.
• Lean Manufacturing & 5s training & experience is an asset.
• Computer skills to access and use company specific programs & systems (ERP, Scheduling, Inventory management, Time & Attendance).
• Able to operate basic machines and equipment to perform the required work.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good problem solving skills within a manufacturing environment.
• Able to work in harmony as a valued team member of the work cell.
• Able to lift, push, bend and twist 40 lbs. during the assembly process.
• Able to drive fork lift truck or ability to be licensed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Assemble “GOLD” units from components using designated tools and devices.
• Follow established standard production operating procedures and work instructions.
• Inspect and test finished units to meet form, fit and operating specifications using designated equipment.
• Follow quality control procedures to ensure tolerance compliances for work-in-progress and final assembly.
• Pack and wrap finished units to meet visual and functional specifications.
• Be able to perform all positions within the work cell to build complete units.
• Flex the duties of the position to meet “takt time” requirements of the production schedule based on manpower allocation.
• Work in a team based environment contributing to the work output and with ideas for continuous improvements.
• Computer skills for production planning, scheduling, part requirements, component retrieval and input/output for inventory management.
• Pro-actively follow safety procedures and PPE.
• Use 5s principles to organize work and work spaces.
• Work pro-actively with Plant Manager and Lead to resolve production and process problems.
• Follow established Lean tools to track variances in work flow, work standards, rework and customer complaints.
• If required, be able to represent team /work cell during customer factory tours.
• Responsible for the output of the work cell as an engaged team member.
