Requirements: Knowledge of all cafeteria menu options;
Current Food Handler certification is considered an asset;
Experience working in a food service setting is considered an asset.
Knowledge of the ActiveNET software system considered an asset.

Ability to work independently without close supervision.
Effective conflict resolution, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Excellent customer service skills to deal effectively with the general public.
Previous cash handling experience with accurate cash handling skills.
Must be available to work flexible hours including daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Description: Turns on all applicable appliances at the start of the day and turns them off at the end of the day.
Follows directions and instructions implemented by the Recreation Services Supervisor or designate.
Conducts diligent record keeping as it pertains to temperature regulations, inventory checklists, equipment and food inspection, and food waste reports.
Food handling, preparation and service is in accordance with York Region Public Health Department regulations and guidelines.
Correctly operates, maintains and cleans all food service equipment.
Maintains good personal hygiene, including regular washing of hands.
Completes inventory control, documentation and daily restocking of merchandise on an on-going basis.
Daily cleaning of cafeteria area, equipment and appliances as well as waste and recycling removal.
Demonstrates a high level of customer service and provides this service on the front-line of operation and does so in an efficient, courteous and respectful manner.
Processes all point-of-sale purchases, and handles cash, credit and debit transactions in an accurate manner and balances daily sales to align with computer reports.
Follows all specified cash handling procedures including float reporting, cash reconciliation, and cash depositing.
Utilizes the first in, first out (FIFO) rule and sorts of food by their best before or expiration dates.
Stores all food and beverage in accordance with York Region Public Health Department timelines and guidelines along with any product timelines and guidelines including listed on packaging.
Assists with customer service duties as required.
Participate in the Town’s Health and Safety Program and follow safety practices in work methods and procedures; observes and complies with all relevant Health & Safety regulations.
Immediately report all concerns (including product), suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions to the Recreation Services Supervisor or designate.
Hours per week: 20 (4-35)
