Requirements:
Excellent ski/snowboard ability
Knowledge of The Alpine Responsibility Code
Ability to work in and withstand severe cold and adverse weather conditions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check (must be current within one year);
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C is considered an asset;
Level 1 Certified Instructor (CSIA or CASI) or willingness to attain certification prior to season start.
Description:
Plans, implements and instructs safe ski and/or snowboard lessons;
Assesses all participants and completes the appropriate report card at the end of each session;
Monitors participants and adapts lessons as necessary;
Performs lesson preparations (i.e. as on-hill set up and tear down, structured lesson plans, etc.);
Demonstrates a high level of customer service and provides this service on the front-line of operation.
Interacts with participants, staff, spectators and community members;
Follows up with parent/guardian at the end of each lesson regarding the students' progression;
Performs administrative tasks to support the program as assigned by the Recreation Programmer;
Ensures all participants are wearing industry standard equipment required for their lesson (helmet, boots, bindings, skis and snowboard);
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays (Christmas Break, Family Day weekend and March Break).
