Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or relevant experience
2 to 3 years' experience working with at risk youth ages 13 to 19
2-3 years of experience in providing training, workshops, or other educational experiences to youth adult populations
Valid First – Aid/CPR – C
A valid Ontario Driver’s license (F Class preferable)
Access to vehicle to pick up supplies for programming.
Successful applicants will be required to complete a Police Records Vulnerable Sector Search
Ability to work as a team with the Community Director or other Program Managers and other mentors to facilitate learning, growth and opportunity for participants
High Five Certified – Principles of Healthy Childhood Development and Quest II trained an asset
Digital literacy skills including web design, WordPress, internet use, email communication, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Experience with data collection, program evaluation
Knowledge of/or experience in health promotion, advocacy, or public policy for youth
Knowledge of/or experience using youth or adult training / learning strategies
Experience working with diverse populations in various settings
Excellent Communication skills with the ability to communicate well with patrons and community partners
Passionate, committed, resourceful, self-aware, patient and respectful about working with youth
Hours of work will be evenings and occasional weekends
Description: At risk youth (of gang participation, incarceration, homelessness etc.,) are identified and recruited through a defined network of local service partners and community stakeholders; the Youth Coordinator will help develop program strategies, plans and outcomes that support the advancement of youth at risk including but not limited to post-secondary enrollment and employment. Additionally, the Youth Coordinator will work hand in hand with the Director and Children’s Coordinator to facilitate and manage partnerships beneficial to location and meet organizational goals and community programs. The Youth Coordinator will oversee and manage youth staff throughout the year and offer insight and support to the Leadership team including the Community Director and Children’s Coordinator.
Develop a network of local service professionals, school representatives, community police officers, and other local groups to act as a referral process for the program
Develop an educational, employment and life skills goal plan and timeline for each youth
Recruit and train peer role models for youth
Monitor and evaluate progress goal plans with youth and mentors
If age appropriate, find part time employment for the youth
Consult and work with staff team, community, groups and other service providers
Secure, train, supervise, direct, support, evaluate, and terminate program staff (part-time, volunteer, practicum students) in the performance of their duties
Review, monitor, and implement the budget for the youth programs and upon approval is accountable under the direction of the Community Director
Maintain all program registration, attendance and statistical information as required by the Club and any funder.
Advocate for children, youth, the Club in its relationship with other agencies, the community, governments and funders
Actively participate as a member of the local Club’s management team
Provide leadership, support and participates in all of the Club’s functions, special events and fundraising activities.
