Requirements: Successful completion of a Chef training or Culinary Management diploma from a vocational or trade school or community college or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have obtained the Red Seal certificate. Minimum three (3) years experience in a related position of a large institutional or commercial establishment providing a full range of culinary services including experience working with therapeutic menus, scratch cooking and bulk decentralized food service. Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC). Knowledge of and ability to operate institutional and job-related food service tools and equipment. Knowledge of the Sanitation Code, Health Protection and Promotions Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and MOHLTC guidelines as related to food and nutrition service. Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer focus, communication, collaboration and personal ownership.
Applicants must be able to work in Maple and Newmarket.
Description: Reporting to the Supervisor, Food Services, is responsible for performing food preparation and production functions; ensuring standards are met in accordance with Ministry of Health LTC Standards, Health Protection and Promotions Act, The Occupational Health & Safety Act and Departmental Policy.
Prepares food items as indicated on Menu spreadsheets and/or production sheets for all resident areas. Follows standardized recipes, being able to produce products from scratch for delivery of meals for resident population. Maintains the safe operation of food preparation equipment. Ensures proper and safe storage and handling of food products. Prepares and cooks all food items in accordance with production sheets, catering requests, and preparation needs. Labels food items in each food cart. Maintains a clean and sanitary work area. Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
