Job Title: Field Technician   Date Posted: 04/29/24 Ref. Number: 959 Type: Full Time Part Time Location: Newmarket Requirements: We seek graduates of Civil Engineering Technology or Technician program for geotechnical fieldwork at our Newmarket location. Completion of at least 2 years in a civil engineering degree course will be considered. Candidates with C.E.T. or C.Tech. designation will have an advantage. Pay will be based on experience. Field Technicians will travel to construction sites throughout Southern and Central Ontario and supervise construction activities. Duties include site inspection of ongoing engineered fill, footing, reinforcing bar and other general foundation work; material testing (soil, granular, asphalt, concrete) using nuclear gauge; material sampling; data collection and general geotechnical work supervision. Applicants must possess knowledge in construction of commercial, industrial, institutional and residential sites, and municipal undertakings; must be able to prepare, read and interpret MUST present and submit a police name/criminal record check. This is required by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for all workers handling the nuclear gauge. Travel is a requirement; must be punctual, possess a valid Ontario driver's licence, a pair of safety boots, and a reliable vehicle to drive to work sites. Willing to travel to various job sites in southern and/or central Ontario. Must be willing to work some weekends. Mileage will be reimbursed. working drawings and blueprints; plan and prioritize work; oversee projects being carried out by contractors; write basic reports; and deal with other site personnel. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. They must possess good verbal and written English skills, be well organized, flexible with their schedule and be able to deliver results on time.
