Requirements: Completion of Highschool diploma.
Minimum of one year’s relevant experience.
Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, green products, and equipment.
Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and sound safety practices in office facility environments an asset.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster cooperative working relationships, and to maintain diplomacy and integrity.
Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy.
Ability to prioritize and take action to complete regular and special tasks.
Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues.
Self-motivated, with a positive attitude towards the responsibilities and duties of the position.
Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate.
Valid Class G driver’s license required.
Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting department staff with the delivery of customer service, ensuring that our facilities are welcoming and safe environments for everyone. This position reports directly to the Coordinator, Facilities and Greenspace and will be responsible for the Administrative Office in Newmarket and the Scanlon Creek Operations and Nature Centres in Bradford.
Support the clean and safe operations of the facilities for visitors and the public.
Perform basic cleaning functions including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, washing floors, carpet cleaning, window cleaning and cleaning of washrooms.
Remove garbage and recyclables from all areas.
Refill all consumable dispensers as required. Assist with inventory control of consumables.
Complete cleaning and maintenance duties in accordance with daily, weekly, and monthly
schedules and maintain service records.
Conduct seasonal deep cleaning of fixtures, flooring, windows, and walls as required.
Perform maintenance of Conservation Authority property including removal of snow and
debris from entrances, sidewalks and fire exits to support contractual services.
Assisting facilities staff with minor repair and building maintenance activities as required,
such as painting, light bulb replacement, and other items as identified by the Coordinator.
Conducts cleaning responsibilities following events or meetings. Possible set-up and tear
down of meeting rooms.
Conduct a facility check at the end of the day to make sure facilities are secure.
Provide facility cleaning and maintenance services at alternate facilities as required, in the
absence of the other Custodian.
Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and the Conservation
Authority Health & Safety Policy and related procedures.
Identify and report any health and safety issues, following all related safety protocols.
Maintain and complete accurate records as required, including but not limited to inspection
and maintenance records for cleaning and regular inventory of cleaning and paper products.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Facilities and Greenspace.
Hours per week: schedule varies throughout the week TBD
Rate of Pay: $19.13 - $23.91
