Leadership Skills: Ability to mentor and guide junior analysts and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on making data-driven decisions.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific financial metrics, challenges, and trends.
Description: Financial Analysis & Reporting
Analyze Financial Performance: Review financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements) to assess company performance and identify trends, variances, and areas of concern.
Variance Analysis: Investigate and explain the reasons for variances between actual financial results and budgeted/forecasted figures, providing actionable insights to management.
Prepare Detailed Reports: Generate comprehensive financial reports for senior executives, highlighting key performance metrics, financial trends, and potential risks or opportunities.
Financial Forecasting: Develop and maintain financial forecasts, providing visibility into future financial performance and advising on potential risks or opportunities.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting
Lead Budget Process: Oversee and coordinate the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads and management to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Forecasting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts, updating them as needed based on actual performance and market conditions.
Scenario Planning: Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis to understand the potential impact of different business conditions on financial outcomes.
Capital Planning: Evaluate and provide recommendations for capital expenditures and investment strategies, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth strategy and financial capacity.
3. Financial Modeling & Valuation
Build Financial Models: Create and maintain complex financial models to assess business performance, investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and new projects.
Evaluate Investments: Conduct financial modeling and valuation analysis for potential investments, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
ROI & NPV Analysis: Perform return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR) analyses to evaluate the financial viability of new initiatives.
4. Strategic Financial Planning
Support Decision-Making: Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making, including pricing strategies, cost-cutting measures, and new business ventures.
Cost Management: Identify opportunities for cost reductions and operational efficiencies across departments and business units.
Performance Metrics: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to measure financial health and performance, supporting ongoing strategy reviews.
5. Financial Systems and Process Improvement
Improve Financial Processes: Continuously assess and improve internal financial systems and processes to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
Automation & Technology: Implement and utilize financial systems (e.g., ERP systems, business intelligence tools) to streamline financial analysis and reporting processes.
Data Integrity: Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data by identifying errors or inconsistencies in reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with Other Departments: Collaborate with various departments (e.g., operations, marketing, sales) to understand financial impacts and develop cross-functional financial strategies.
Guide Junior Analysts: Mentor and supervise junior financial analysts, providing guidance on financial analysis techniques, reporting, and professional development.
Project Support: Provide financial expertise and analysis for special projects, product launches, or departmental initiatives as requested by senior management.
7. Risk Management & Compliance
Assess Financial Risks: Identify financial risks (e.g., market fluctuations, liquidity issues, regulatory changes) and provide recommendations on mitigating those risks.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that financial reports and forecasts comply with applicable regulations, accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS), and internal policies.
Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of audit reports and work with external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting.
8. Ad-hoc Analysis and Special Projects
Conduct Ad-hoc Analysis: Provide ad-hoc financial analysis for executive teams, including profitability studies, cost-benefit analyses, and financial impact assessments for new initiatives.
Support M&A Activity: Play a key role in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or joint ventures by evaluating financial performance, due diligence, and post-merger integration strategies.
9. Communication and Presentation
Present Financial Data: Present complex financial data and insights to senior leadership in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
Executive Briefings: Prepare and deliver presentations to executives, summarizing financial performance, projections, and strategic recommendations.
Stakeholder Management: Act as a liaison between finance and other departments, ensuring that financial information is communicated effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
Hours per week: Mon - Fri (Hybrid) 40
Rate of Pay: 90,000 - $110,000 + bonus + 5% RSP matchinh
