Requirements:
Strong collaborator and team player. Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail. Ability to take initiative in and out of the classroom. Demonstrate knowledge of the profession and the ability to apply that knowledge in the program. Strong problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels with children, colleagues, and families. Ability to utilize Lullaboo’s computer system for all documentation, reporting, and classroom operations. Supportive attitude and ability to provide emotional, physical, and/or behavioral support to children. Educational background in a related field is considered an asset. Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (within the last six months). Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C. Ability to lift children up to the age of 5.
Description:
Implement practices in accordance with the CCEYA, regional health regulations, Lullaboo’s policies, and Ontario’s “How Does Learning Happen?” Meet all classroom ratios as outlined in CCEYA and supervise children effectively to ensure their health and safety needs are met
Attend to children’s physical needs for diapering, toileting, eating, sleeping, etc. Maintain up-to-date regulated and required documentation and record keeping, including but not limited to: attendance records, emergency cards, and daily logs for children and classroom. Build relationships of trust with children and families, maintaining open communication with families at all times. Plan and implement programming based on children’s interests. Programming must be child-directed and adult-supported in accordance with Ontario’s
“How Does Learning Happen?” guidelines. Programming must be inquiry-based and structured through long-term projects as part of Lullaboo’s project-based curriculum philosophy. Support children’s holistic development in building skills across all developmental domains (ex. social, communication, thinking, research, self-management) and
document skill development in children’s progress reports. Act as a co-learner and participate in learning experiences with children, scaffolding learning and supporting children to fully engage in the classroom routine. Provide responsive and nurturing support when addressing challenging behaviors and use positive guidance strategies to guide children to engage in a meaningful and positive way. Manage and maintain an orderly classroom, including: removing garbage, performing daily sanitizing tasks, etc. Design and update the classroom arrangement according to children’s needs in alignment with classroom design principles and displaying understanding of the “environment as the third educator”. Work with professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Resource Consultants/Early Interventionists as necessary. Attend and participate in class team meetings, center staff meetings, workshops, and teambuilding events. Participate in regional quality initiative programs (ex. Peel Region Raising the Bar, Waterloo Region Continuous Quality Improvement Plan, etc.)
