Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the high voltage electrical sector.
Minimum three (3) years’ experience developing and delivering training.
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Red Seal certified trade certificate or a relevant training designation is an asset.
Experience in Adult Learning techniques in designing and delivering training and support materials is an asset.
Experience in competency and needs analysis.
In depth knowledge of relevant professional standards and best practices, industry requirements and associated job steps and hazards, including OHSA and EUSR.
Demonstrated presentation and training skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization and external parties.
Description:
The Training & Skills Development Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of both technical and safety related training programs to employees. The specialist monitors and reports on the development of the Trades apprentices within the Apprenticeship program. The Specialist also supports the functional areas in the development and delivery of programs and workshops to prepare all Powerline Technicians for successful transitions to higher levels of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Creatively bring ideas to life by developing a full range of content for various delivery methods, including instructor led training, hands on training, and eLearning to all classifications within with collective agreement.
Develop & deliver technical training courses for new and existing employees.
Update existing training materials by incorporating technical and procedural changes to maintain currency of course materials.
Schedule visits and report on work method observations.
Assist in the development of training project plans including timelines, milestones, and accountabilities.
Conduct Training Needs Assessments on internal departments to effectively observe, measure, test and analyze current and future training needs.
Identify new tools, instruments, equipment and technology that will result in increased safety and higher productivity in construction and maintenance activities Implement technological initiatives to improve training delivery methods.
Conduct on-the-job training and regular coaching, monitoring, and evaluating for the apprentices in the Apprenticeship Program.
Conduct scheduled visits and with apprentices and acts as the direct point of contact for the apprentices for any concerns they may have regarding the Apprenticeship Program.
