Requirements:

Post graduate certificate in Human Resources Management is considered an asset.
1-2 years related job experience in human resources, specifically with full cycle recruitment and health and safety.
Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation (or in progress)
Exceptional attention to detail.
High degree of analytical and research skills.
Sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of group benefits and pension programs.

Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Associate is responsible for assisting with day-to-day corporate HR functions and supporting the staff of the Conservation Authority in the following areas: administration, recruitment, health and safety, benefits, and training. 1 year contract with possibility of contract extension or conversion to full-time (pending performance and budget)
Provide information and guidance to seasonal employees on HR related matters, including legislative compliance, policy and procedure interpretation, training and development, and HRIS.
Facilitate full cycle recruitment for all seasonal and short-term contract positions, supporting the hiring managers in the recruitment and selection process.
Responsible for the onboarding process for all new staff joining the Conservation Authority including new hire orientation.
Track and oversee conditions of employment and ensure all paperwork is completed.
Responsible for the offboarding process including exit interviews, end of contract letters, and liaising with IT and payroll departments.
Support the administration of the Health and Safety Excellence Program.
Responsible for ensuring accurate input and maintenance of data in the HRIS (ADP) and H&S (Workhub) platforms.
Provide assistance and support to the Joint Health and Safety Committees.
Research HR trends, legislation and best practices, and compile and share findings in a clear, concise format.
Support the annual performance review and goal setting process.
Assign training programs, track completion, and research training options.
Maintain job descriptions and update as needed.
Support HR initiatives and special projects.
Maintain the HR filing system including employee files.
Draft employee letters and communications.
Maintain organizational charts.
Create ad hoc reports on HR metrics and analyze results.
Provide back-up to the HR/Health and Safety Specialist.
Other duties as assigned.
Hours per week:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
