SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of one year university or college in an appropriate field (e.g., museum studies, history, education, hospitality and tourism etc.).
Possess demonstrated organizational, writing, research and exceptional public speaking skills.
Familiarity with a museum, heritage, cultural, or non-profit organization, is an asset.
The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
A valid driver's license or access to transportation is required as we are not located on a public transportation route.
Police Vulnerable Sector Check, deemed as satisfactory by the Town;
Current Certification in Basic First Aid and CPR "C";
Candidates must be available to work weekends;

(Job ID#2025.30S). Seasonal (May 14, 2025 - August 31, 2025). Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (8:30am - 4:30pm). Location: Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Museum Attendant is the frontline staff working to ensure visitors to the museum have a positive experience. The role includes responding to public queries, tours, assisting with programs and activities, preparing the historic buildings and exhibit spaces for the public including open and close routines each day and light housekeeping. Location: Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives, 26557 Civic Centre Road, Keswick, ON L4P 3G1.
Working with the Heritage Coordinator and other summer staff, the Museum Attendant will:
Welcome visitors, conduct tours and provide historical information of the buildings and artifacts at the Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives;
Ensure site is clean and prepared to receive visitors;
Record number of visitors and manage cash transactions;
Answer telephone inquiries;
Work other staff to research themes related to the period from 19th - early 20th century, in Georgina that can be translated into demonstrations, activities, crafts and games that explore these themes;
Interpret the history of the various heritage buildings located at the Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives, including relevant information about the town in which they were originally located and the people that once occupied them;
Provide basic demonstrations of the pastimes, chores and crafts performed by people in 19th century rural Ontario;
Through engaged discussion with the public, promote the Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives, its programs, and events; Assist with the various special events taking place at the Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives throughout the summer months;
Work with other staff in developing methods to capture visitor feedback that will be used to evaluate the visitor experience at the Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives.
Hours per week:
Wednesday - Sunday; 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
