Requirements: Experience:
Experience working with children in an informal education and/or recreation setting, demonstrating the ability to create engaging and age-appropriate activities;
Familiarity with a library, cultural institution, or not-for-profit organization is considered an asset, as is experience planning or delivering programs in community-focused environments, such as summer camps;
Experience with social media platforms, including YouTube, with skills in digital storytelling, content creation, and on-camera appearances to enhance community engagement and promote library initiatives.
Knowledge:
Friendly and positive nature, with strong interpersonal skills to communicate well with children of all ages and their care-givers;
Ability to work well independently and with others;
Some knowledge of children's books, early childhood development, and/or current children's interests;
Skilled in preparing posters, displays, and other promotional material in physical and digital forms, ensuring visually appealing and accessible content;
Creativity and on-the-fly problem-solving;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office software, social media, mobile apps, and internet searching;
Demonstrated interest in learning new technology and software.
Required:
Grant restriction: applicants must be between ages of 15 years and 30 years;
A flexible schedule including the ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays;
Current Vulnerable Sector Screening;
A valid driver's licence or access to transportation in order to commute to various locations for program delivery on a regular basis.

Status: Temporary Full-Time (May 5, 2025 to August 22,2025).
Position Purpose:
The GPL Ambassador acts as a key liaison between the library and the community, increasing awareness of library offerings and fostering meaningful connections. Promotes GPL's programs and services at all library branches, in the community, and online.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Manager, Library Community Engagement or designate, this position:
Assists in the preparation, presentation, and implementation of print and physical materials for GPL's Summer Reading programs;
Represents GPL at events in the community, acting as an enthusiastic advocate for library services and programs;
Develops engaging programs for children connected to GPL's Summer Reading and Learning Club, with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) programming;
Creates online content that showcases GPL programs and services, using innovative approaches to connect with diverse audiences;
Maintains accurate statistical records;
Participates in the Town's Health and Safety Program and follows safety practices in work methods and procedures; observes, and complies with all relevant Health and Safety regulations.
Hours per week: $20/hour
