Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
• Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician (MLA/T) program OR a Bachelor’s degree in Science (or related post-secondary education)
• MLA/T graduates must be certified or eligible for certification (OSMT, CSMLS, or equivalent)
• One to two years of laboratory experience with knowledge of Haematology, Blood Banking, Microbiology, and Immunology
• Strong skills in laboratory equipment operation, troubleshooting, and aseptic techniques
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work collaboratively, and adapt to new technologies
• Strong written communication skills for preparing SOPs, reports, and other technical documentation

Description:
The is seeking a Part-Time Laboratory Processing Technologist to join our team and contribute to the processing and testing of cord blood products for transplantation. This role involves performing both simple and complex laboratory procedures while ensuring compliance with AABB, FACT, and Health Canada regulations.

Key Responsibilities
• Process and test cord blood and cord tissue samples
• Perform cryopreservation and maintain inventory of cryopreserved products
• Ensure proficiency in aseptic techniques
• Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration of lab equipment
• Order, receive, and maintain inventory of supplies and reagents
• Maintain and prepare laboratory reports and ensure accurate record-keeping
• Assist in quality control, validation, and competency assessments
• Train and orient new laboratory staff as assigned
• Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports, and other technical documents
• Adhere to all safety and compliance regulations
