About the Role
As an integral part of the "we can do that" operation and leader of the Finance/Accounting Team, you will be responsible for monitoring the financial health of the operation. Specifically, you will:
Oversee and assist all accounting activities and cycles, including revenues, receivables, purchases, payables, treasury, payroll, compliance, and related processes
Monitor the company's financial direction, policies, and accounting practices
Work with management to provide insights and feedback ensuring exceptional financial results while minimizing risk and exposure
Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as lending institutions, shareholders, accountants, taxation authorities, and others
Maintain ownership of the general ledger and trial balance, ensuring system information agrees with supporting documents and external sources
Develop, maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, and tax compliance issues
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting packages and manage year-end reporting processes
Champion cash management processes and systems to ensure strong liquidity
Champion internal processes and procedure improvements, maintaining documentation
Develop, motivate, and supervise accounting team members
About You
Ideal candidates will have a strong background and proven experience in managing finance/accounting operations, including:
Previous experience as an Assistant Controller or in progressive accounting roles (automotive/dealership experience preferred)
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent, with strong technical accounting skills
CPA or equivalent designation is an asset but not required
Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., CDK or Reynolds & Reynolds) and payroll programs (ADP or similar)
Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
Desire to continuously develop new skills and actively seek improvement opportunities
Experience leading and supervising team members
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to lead change and effectively manage projects
Ability to adapt to changing environments and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail, organization, and strategic thinking
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
