Requirements: - Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Early Childhood Education or approved equivalent combination of education and experience AND a one year post graduate Resource Teacher certificate.
- Minimum two (2) years experience in working with families/community with children (ages 0-13) with special needs and experience developing and implementing Individual Program Plans.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
- Understanding of typical/atypical development to support developmental progress and practices.
- Ability to travel to offsite locations, as required.
Description: - ABOUT THE ROLE
- This position is responsible for providing special needs resourcing support to licensed Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) providers primarily for children from birth to school entry, with some additional supports to after school programs for children up to age 13. Responsibilities include supporting the successful inclusion of children with special needs into licensed ELCC settings by providing both direct and indirect service that foster the child’s independence, engagement and social relationships and promote inclusionary practices within ELCC classrooms.

- WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Understands typical and atypical child development and related health implications to provide appropriate early intervention services and supports.
- Reviews referral to ELCC programs assigned to caseload, contacts customer(s), orients them to services, obtains consents as required and reviews eligibility.
- Gathers information to develop an Individual Program Plan (IPP) by interviewing educators regarding a child’s functioning within daily routines and meets with families to discuss priorities areas, as appropriate.
- Meets with child’s team to formalize IPP including feasibility of goals and what routines goals will be implemented; reviews/updates plan every 6 months or as required with the child’s team.
- Reviews goals and aspects of plan at every visit for relevance and updating.
- Identifies ELCC classroom and educator-based needs and develops a Classroom Plan with educators.
- Refers programs to Resources for Inclusion Support in Early Learning Settings (R.I.S.E) to promote inclusive practices and works with internal processes/partners to support implementation.
- Conducts virtual and in person visits, using a Collaborative Consultation to Child Care coaching model of service delivery and collaborates on intervention mechanisms related to the IPP outcomes.
- Provides updates on visits and support to ELCC’s through sharing of documentation with customers.
- Works with organization supervisor to achieve and maintain fidelity on Routine-Based Interviewing.
- Supports the transition to school process by attending meetings, completing reports, sharing information, as required.
- Liaises with other professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech-Language Pathologists and partner agency staff to facilitate/coordinate service options available for referrals.
- Supports licensed after school ELCC programs by providing short term in person/virtual consultation sessions.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
