Job Title: Senior Camp Counsellor Summer Camps 2026 - Seasonal Contract   Date Posted: 01/05/26 Ref. Number: 916 Type: Full Time Part Time Location: Newmarket Requirements: 1.Current certification such as Counsellor in Training Program, Babysitting Course, National Coaching Certification Program or equivalent. 2.A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with toddlers, children and/or youth in a related role. 3.Good organizational and leadership skills. 4.Ability to deal courteously and effectively with day camp participants, staff, bus drivers, parent/guardians and the general public. 5.Must be able to participate in swimming activities and oversee camp participants in pre-set swim groups which comply with Town of Newmarket ratios. 6.Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required. 7.Lifesaving Society’s Safeguard certification required. 8.Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required. 9.Behaviour Management Systems, Safe Management or Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification is an asset. 10.Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town (Those 18 Years & Older) or the completion of Declaration of Minors – Working with Vulnerable Individuals Self Declaration Form (Those 17 Years and Younger) is required. Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification. Description: Seasonal Position - Less than 6 month contract. Approximate start date June. The Successful Candidate Will: 1.Facilitate safe, engaging and fun activities for campers including games, songs, crafts, swimming, etc. 2.Ensure safe delivery of camp programming by following all Town policies and procedures, providing adequate supervision, and managing camper behaviours. 3.Collaborate with other Camp Counsellors, Inclusion Facilitators and Camp Directors to provide an inclusive environment, resolve concerns and plan the camp day. 4.Respond to emergency situations including performing first aid and documentation. 5.Respond to enquiries and provides quality customer service to participants, parents/guardians, and general public.
