Description:
The Training Specialist is a key contributor to the organization’s learning and development strategy, responsible for building a skilled, engaged, and high-performing workforce. Reporting to the General Manager of Human Resources, this role leads the design, delivery, and administration of company-wide training and development initiatives.
Beyond facilitating training programs, the Training Specialist supports broader human resources functions, including managing the annual performance review cycle and administering the employee engagement survey. This role works closely with HR partners and business leaders across the organization, using data, analytics, and relationship-building skills to identify skill gaps and implement effective learning solutions that align with organizational goals.
The position requires a balance of instructional design expertise, facilitation skills, systems administration, and analytical thinking, along with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple departments.
Key responsibilities:
Assess training and development needs by partnering with HR and business leaders to identify skill and performance gaps.
Design and develop engaging learning materials, including presentations, manuals, job aids, and e-learning content.
Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions, including onboarding and ongoing development programs.
Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including course administration, content uploads, assessments, and completion tracking.
Monitor, track, and report on training initiatives, apprenticeships, and tuition reimbursement programs.
Collect and analyze training feedback and performance metrics to improve learning effectiveness.
Plan, administer, and report on the annual employee engagement survey.
Coordinate the annual performance review process, including system administration and reporting.
Manage the co-op student program, including school partnerships, career events, and placement coordination.
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal audits, and health and safety requirements.
Support additional HR initiatives and projects as required.
