Qualifications:
● A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
● 1–3 years of proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
● In-depth knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety regulations and construction safety standards.
● Professional certifications such as NCSO or NHSA are preferable.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence behavior and enforce safety protocols firmly but fairly.
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
● Proficiency in using safety management software and standard office applications for reporting and documentation.
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to navigate active construction sites, which may include climbing ladders, walking on uneven terrain, and working at heights.
● Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
● Flexibility to travel between multiple project locations as required.
Description:
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs across our construction sites. Your primary objective is to ensure that all site activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a culture of safety that protects our workforce and minimizes project risks.
You will work closely with the manager to align site-specific safety initiatives with broader corporate health and safety goals and provide regular updates on site compliance and incident metrics.
Your duties will include:
● Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager.
● Develop and maintain site-specific health and safety plans (HASP) for various construction projects, ensuring they are updated as project scopes evolve.
● Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe work practices, and non-compliance issues.
● Lead accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
● Facilitate safety training sessions and toolbox talks for site personnel, subcontractors, and visitors to ensure everyone is aware of safety protocols.
● Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure they adhere to the company’s safety standards and contractual requirements.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during site visits or inspections.
● Collaborate with project managers and site superintendents to integrate safety into the daily planning and execution of construction activities.
