Job Description:
A growing group of companies in civil infrastructure, environmental services, ready-mix concrete, and development is seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of financial integrity, reporting, and systems. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who understands project-based and operational businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Controls

Own and maintain the chart of accounts across all entities

Establish financial controls and approval frameworks

Oversee month-end close, WIP, and margin reporting

Ensure accurate intercompany accounting

Project & Job Cost Oversight

Define and maintain job cost structures and standards

Review project financial performance and variances

Provide visibility into cost, margin, and profitability

Partner with leadership to protect project margins

Cash Flow & Risk Management

Cash flow forecasting and working capital management

Oversight of AR aging and collections strategy

Review high-risk invoices and expenses

Liaison with banks, lenders, and external accountants

Payroll & Compliance Oversight

Approve payroll (processing handled by admin)

Oversee statutory reporting and compliance (WSIB, etc.)

Review leadership compensation jointly with executive team

Systems & Reporting

Lead financial configuration and rollout of ERP system

Build meaningful reports and dashboards for leadership

Ensure clean, reliable financial data for decision-making

Requirements

7+ years experience in a Controller or senior finance role

Experience in construction, infrastructure, or project-based businesses preferred

Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and margin analysis

ERP experience required (experience with Accumatica is an asset)

Comfortable working closely with executive and operations leadership

CPA designation preferred but not required with relevant experience
