Number: 797 Type: Full Time Part Time Location: Stouffville Requirements: Position: Handyman / Heavy Cleaner Location: Stouffville, ON Pay: $23.07–$24.55 per hour Job Type: Permanent, Part-Time, Casual Schedule: 8-hour shifts; rotating days, evenings, and weekends Position Summary This role helps maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary long-term care environment by performing enhanced cleaning and infection control duties. The position also provides evening support across the campus, including phone monitoring, emergency response, and general assistance in both Long-Term Care and Independent Living areas. This job requires someone reliable, flexible, and able to balance cleaning responsibilities with resident and operational support. Core Responsibilities Environmental Services & Infection Control Perform cleaning, disinfection, waste management, and laundry support Follow infection prevention and control standards and healthcare safety guidelines Resident & Campus Support Interact respectfully with residents Assist Independent Living areas as needed Support evening requests, events, and general logistical needs Health, Safety & Compliance Follow long-term care regulations and workplace health and safety standards Support outbreak protocols and property safety, including weather-related conditions Evening Operations & Communication Monitor facility phone lines Complete documentation (such as temperature checks) Escalate issues according to procedures Emergency & After-Hours Response Act as first contact for after-hours issues Coordinate with leadership and clinical teams Assist with evening fire drills and related documentation Qualifications Minimum 1 year of building cleaning experience Long-Term Care experience is an asset Knowledge of HVAC, building systems, fire systems, and security systems Understanding of WHMIS and occupational health & safety practices Strong verbal and written English communication skills Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks Flexible, cooperative team player with strong problem-solving skills Good attendance record and up-to-date mandatory training Basic computer or smart device skills are an asset Description: Hours per week: Rate of Pay:
