Position Requirements:
Minimum of two (2) years previous camp experience, preferably with one (1) year in a role working with individuals who have diverse physical, developmental, emotional and/or behavioural needs.
This position is required from June through until first week of September.
Able to work between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday-Friday during length of contract.
Must be a student returning to school in September.
Current Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate or willing to obtain prior to employment.
High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development certificate or willing to obtain prior to employment.
Behaviour management systems, safe management or crisis prevention and intervention certification is an asset.
Due to the nature of this position, a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town will be required. Those 16 years and younger will be required to complete a Declaration of Minors- Working with Vulnerable Individuals Self Declaration form upon hire.
Ability to work and travel to any Town of East Gwillimbury facilities for scheduled hours

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation, the Recreation Coordinator, and under direct supervision of the Camp Directors and Camp Supervisors, the Inclusion Counsellor will be responsible for providing specialized support to campers who have diverse needs. Responsibilities include:
Work with participants who have diverse physical, developmental, emotional, and/or behavioural needs to ensure active participation in our summer camp programs.
Provide additional support in managing behavioural challenges to ensure safety of all participants and staff.
Adapt program plans to ensure they are inclusive for all participants.
Maintain positive communication between staff, volunteers, campers & guardians.
Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (i.e. ‘All About Me’ forms, program plans, etc.).
Respond to emergency situations including performing minor first aid and/or arranging for medical assistance.
Ability to deal with difficult and confidential situations including ongoing conversations with the participant’s guardians.
