Requirements:
Qualifications and Requirements:
Post secondary education in Culinary Arts or related disciplines.
Experience developing lessons and activity plans for a group setting.
Previous experience teaching in an educational setting an asset.
Previous experience planning and implementing program plans an asset.
Strong customer service, oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to deal effectively and politely with staff, parents, program participants and the general public.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Availability/flexibility to work daytime, evenings, and weekends.
Canadian Food Safety Certification (Food Handler) required.
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certificate or willing to obtain prior to employment.
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Description:
Key Responsibilities include:
Plan and lead program specific curriculum on preparing and teaching culinary classes and introducing participants of all ages to food preparation and handling.
Assist in the research and development of appropriate culinary programming for beginners and practicing cooks, ensuring that culinary activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants.
Create a welcoming, safe, and positive environment for all participants.
Provide adaptations and modifications to planned exercises/techniques and/or available equipment where appropriate.
Setup and cleanup of any supplies needed for the program.
Maintain kitchen facility and equipment in good order.
Ensure all participants follow safe food handling practices.
Effectively communicates with participants and/or parents/guardians (where applicable), addressing any questions, concerns, complaints, or suggestions about the program, pass on any relevant information to the Recreation Coordinator.
Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
Projected to work 3 to 5 hours per week, based on operational needs
