Fundraising & Communications Specialist (Part-Time Contract)
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (Part-Time)
Hours: Approximately 18.75 hours per week (average), with flexibility based on campaign and event needs
Compensation: $36–$42 per hour, commensurate with experience
Reports to: The CEO

Role Overview
The Fundraising and Development Specialist supports the organization’s fundraising growth, donor engagement, and external communications efforts. Working closely with leadership and staff, the Specialist develops and refines fundraising strategies, strengthens relationships with donors and sponsors, supports campaigns and events, and leads key communications initiatives to enhance the organization’s visibility and community presence.
This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution and is suited to a self-directed professional who values community engagement, relationship-building, and mission-driven work in support of seniors and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Planning
Develop and refine fundraising and donor engagement strategies
Identify opportunities to expand and diversify revenue sources, sponsorships, and partnerships
Support annual planning and prioritization of fundraising initiatives
Track progress and provide recommendations to leadership
Donor Development, Stewardship & Recognition
Build and strengthen relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
Support ongoing donor engagement and stewardship throughout the year
Coordinate donor appreciation and recognition initiatives
Maintain accurate donor records and communications
Support cultivation activities and relationship-building with prospective supporters
Campaigns & Events
Support planning and execution of targeted fundraising campaigns and initiatives
Assist with coordination of donor, sponsor, and community engagement events
Develop outreach materials and follow-up communications
Collaborate with internal teams to support smooth delivery of activities
Communications & Brand Visibility
Develop and distribute regular communications for donors, sponsors, and stakeholders, including newsletters and updates
Support social media presence and content planning
Draft external communications, announcements, and stories that highlight programs and impact
Promote organizational initiatives through community and media outreach
Ensure consistent messaging and branding across communications
Internal Collaboration & Engagement
Work collaboratively with leadership, staff, and volunteers to support fundraising and engagement activities
Support Resident and Family Councils and other internal groups with fundraising or awareness initiatives
Provide communications guidance and materials to support internal efforts
Coordinate messaging to ensure alignment across departments
Reporting & Administration
Provide regular progress updates to leadership
Track fundraising and engagement activities
Manage priorities and timelines within agreed hours
Qualifications & Experience
Experience in fundraising, development, communications, or nonprofit engagement
Demonstrated ability to support donor or sponsorship initiatives
Strong writing, storytelling, and relationship-building skills
Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities
Experience with newsletters, social media, and digital communications tools
Experience in health, seniors, or community services settings is an asset
Knowledge of or connection to the Stouffville community is considered an asset
Demonstrated commitment to community-based, mission-driven work
