Number: 829 Type: Full Time Part Time Location: Markham Requirements: Qualifications: • Previous experience in agriculture, greenhouse, or food production is an asset but not required • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in a fast-paced environment • Physically able to stand for long periods, bend, lift (up to 20–25 kg), and work in humid conditions • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions • Team player with a good work ethic Key Skills: • Manual dexterity • Time management • Basic communication skills • Commitment to cleanliness and food safety Description: Job Summary: The General Labour supports daily operations in a mushroom production facility, including cultivation assistance, harvesting, and cleaning. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to hygiene standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a controlled agricultural environment. Key Responsibilities: 1. Harvesting Operations • Harvest mushrooms by hand according to size, quality, and maturity standards • Handle products carefully to prevent damage or contamination • Sort and place harvested mushrooms into designated containers • Meet daily production and quality targets 2. Cultivation Support • Assist with bed preparation, casing, watering, and general crop maintenance • Monitor growing conditions and report any abnormalities (e.g., contamination, pests) • Follow standard operating procedures for handling growing media and materials 3. Cleaning & Sanitation • Clean growing rooms, equipment, and work areas regularly • Dispose of waste and used materials in accordance with company procedures • Follow strict hygiene and sanitation protocols to maintain food safety standards • Assist with deep cleaning between crop cycles 4. General Labor Duties • Load and unload materials, supplies, and harvested products • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment • Follow all health and safety regulations and wear required PPE • Support other operational tasks as assigned by supervisors Hours per week: 35+ Rate of Pay: starting frm $17.60/hour
