Job Overview

The Sub Foreperson is responsible for assisting in overseeing the construction, installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal, and inspection of electrical power transmission and distribution systems, as well as communication networks. This role helps ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.

Responsibilities
Assist in managing the day-to-day activities of field crews, ensuring safety remains a top priority.
Assist in overseeing the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission systems, including overhead power lines and cables, insulators, conductors, switches, transformers, and associated equipment.
Assist in the erection and maintenance of steel, wood, and concrete poles, towers, and guy wires.
Mentor junior crew members and apprentices.
Prepare and submit required documentation and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational processes, standard operating procedures, and performance targets.
Communicate with stakeholders and provide formal reports on job and project progress.
Qualifications and Requirements
Interprovincial Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate required.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Certified Powerline Technician.
Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset.
Valid DZ driver's licence.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively mentor and support team members.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
Sound knowledge of approved methods, materials, and tools used in line construction and maintenance work.
Additional Information
This is an existing vacancy.
Hourly rate: $59.36, subject to future increases as governed by the applicable IBEW wage schedule.
In Ontario, individuals currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program or certified tradespersons actively seeking new employment may be considered in partnership with the local union hall.
