Two (2) year college diploma in Parks Operations, Facility Management, Horticulture or related discipline from an accredited college;
WHMIS training.
Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years’ related experience in a recreation , parks, or facility operations environment with at least one (1) year supervisory experience;
Demonstrated hands-on experience in winter operations, including snowmaking systems and mechanical snow grooming equipment;
Experience overseeing maintenance programs, staff scheduling, and daily operations in a municipal or comparable setting is considered an asset;
One (1) year on the job for the period of adjustment, orientation, and adaptation.
Knowledge:
Working knowledge/understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
Familiarity with maintenance practices, facility operations, and related equipment.
Competencies:
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and support staff;
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with sound judgement in decision-making and conflict resolution;
Proficiency in the use of maintenance equipment and operational systems.
Demonstrated administrative and computer proficiency, including the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) for scheduling, reporting, record-keeping, and communication;
Proven ability to coordinate operational information, maintain accurate records, and support administrative processes associated with facility operations.
Current Certificates in CPR/First Aid;
Police Vulnerable Sector Check results, deemed as satisfactory by the Town;
Valid Class 'G' Driver's license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business;
Driver’s Abstract in good standing required to operate Corporation vehicles;
Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays and to respond to emergencies.
Ability to prepare work schedules and exercise sound judgement in determining a course of action or resolving conflict/disputes.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Description:
Position Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the ROC facility, Georgina Pioneer Village, waterfront parks and Jackson Point Harbour. Including overseeing the scheduling, administrative duties and operational functions/services to achieve a high standard of safety, maintenance, appearance and technical operation; as well as maintaining effective relations with customers, suppliers and the general public.
Responsibilities:
Provides supervision to the ROC Lead Hand, contracted and seasonal staff to operate the facility and recommends decisions on discipline and terminations.
Ensures adherence to Town HR policies and employment and Health and Safety related legislation; keeping abreast of emerging legislation relevant to the Town’s business.
Manages and oversees the day-to-day scheduling, organization, co-ordination and monitoring associated with the work of staff.
Provides regular and constructive feedback to staff on performance; recognizes achievements and provides individualized support.
Manages, motivates and mentors staff cultivating innovation, creativity and build a highly effective team while delivering high standards of work quality and organizational performance.
Facilitates the development and achievement of business and personal objectives including individual development action plans designed for continued growth and sophistication of the team.
Manages planning, and scheduling the operations of the ROC facility including regular and preventative maintenance, and programs/services in conjunction with Recreation Services.
Supervise and schedule staff for all beachfront locations including Jackson’s Point Harbor.
Assists in the implementation and utilization of the Work Tech work order system for tracking budgets, projects and expenses.
Supervises the Maintenance staff and maintenance plan at the Georgina Pioneer Village including funding and budget requests and recommendations.
Supervises the grooming of the hill, snow making, lift maintenance, rope courses, bicycle trails, zip-line, splash pad, etc.
Supervises and oversees scheduling ROC operational staff and waterfront staff, including training and orientation, occupational health and safety, training on the effective/safe operation of equipment and maintenance standards/expectations to maintain a high level of maintenance and safety of the ROC.
Recommends policies, guidelines and procedures, tenders/RFP for the ROC operations.
Assists with balancing the annual operating budget to meet the projected expenditures.
Assists in managing capital projects including cost estimation, tender process and oversees contracted services to meet project timelines.
Purchases/orders supplies, and maintains inventory of ROC products/stock/supplies.
Ensures that established accounting and invoicing practices are followed.
Oversees the preparation of work schedules on a daily, weekly and/or annual basis.
Maintains all maintenance logs on machinery and equipment and completes required/necessary facility checks and operational logs to maintain compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and/or guidelines (e.g. WHMIS, OH&S).
Makes recommendations to the Manager of Parks Development and Operations for operational changes and/or improvements.
Supervises planning for the security of the facility.
Assists in preparing presentations to Council to provide updates on the business operation.
Uses outlook, excel and Microsoft Word to effectively communicate.
Liaises with, responds to inquiries and/or resolves complaints from the general public, staff, consultants, members of Council, contractors, community groups, sports/user groups and School Boards and special event organizers related to the facility and its operations/programs.
Ensures compliance of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other applicable legislation
Enforces the Town’s Health and Safety Program, procedures and best practices.
Implements, conducts, and ensures due diligence of all health and safety matters including but not limited to training, risk assessments, workplace inspections, investigations, procedures and correcting hazards.
Hours per week:
40 hours per week (7:30am – 4:00pm)
Rate of Pay:
$99,315.56 - $116,185.16
