Position Overview
The Fundraising and Communications Specialist supports fundraising growth, donor engagement, and external communications for a community-based organization serving seniors. Working closely with leadership and staff, the Specialist develops fundraising strategies, strengthens relationships with donors and sponsors, supports campaigns and events, and leads communications initiatives that enhance organizational visibility and community engagement.
This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution and is ideal for a self-directed professional who values relationship-building, community engagement, and mission-driven work.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Planning
Develop and refine fundraising and donor engagement strategies.
Identify opportunities to expand and diversify revenue through donations, sponsorships, and partnerships.
Support annual fundraising planning and prioritization.
Monitor fundraising progress and provide recommendations to leadership.
Donor Development, Stewardship & Recognition
Build and strengthen relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
Support ongoing donor engagement and stewardship initiatives.
Coordinate donor appreciation and recognition activities.
Maintain accurate donor records and communications.
Assist with cultivating prospective supporters.
Campaigns & Events
Support planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
Coordinate donor, sponsor, and community engagement events.
Develop outreach materials and follow-up communications.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful event delivery.
Communications & Brand Visibility
Develop newsletters, donor updates, and stakeholder communications.
Manage social media content and communications planning.
Draft announcements, success stories, and promotional materials.
Support media and community outreach efforts.
Ensure consistent organizational messaging and branding.
Internal Collaboration
Work collaboratively with leadership, staff, and volunteers.
Support internal committees and groups with fundraising and awareness initiatives.
Provide communications guidance and promotional materials.
Coordinate messaging across departments.
Reporting & Administration
Provide regular progress updates to leadership.
Track fundraising and engagement activities.
Manage priorities and timelines within scheduled hours.
Qualifications
Experience in fundraising, development, communications, or nonprofit engagement.
Demonstrated success supporting donor or sponsorship initiatives.
Excellent writing, storytelling, and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Experience with newsletters, social media, and digital communications tools.
Experience in health care, seniors' services, or community organizations is an asset.
Knowledge of the local community is considered an asset.
