Job Title: Pension and Compensation Specialist

Requirements:       The ideal candidate will have a university degree or equivalent in Human Resources along with 3-5 years’ experience as a Generalist with an emphasis on Pension Administration. Knowledge of pension and salary administration policies and practices is important. Working towards a CHRP designation is an asset. The candidate must have up to date knowledge of employment legislation including ESA, Human Rights Code, etc. This position requires advanced level Excel skills, working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and HR information data base systems. The candidate must have strong verbal and written English communication skills as well as the ability to excel in a team environment. All candidates must be able to obtain both CGP and ITAR clearance.
Description: Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, this position requires experience in the following areas: • Pension Plans: o Prepare or support annual and monthly regulatory submissions (i.e., financial statements, AIRs, Form 7s, PBGFs), support Board presentations, and resolve auditor queries or issues. o Respond to employee and pension plan member queries; maintain literature; maintain and reconcile member eligibility, enrollments and terminations; process benefit payment authorizations, and maintain pension booklets. o Reconcile employee benefits, contributions and expenses to the pension plan statements and process provider (trustee, investment, and actuarial) expense payments. o Coordinate with the trustee and investment providers to ensure responsible and compliant administration of the pension plan. o Coordinate information for the actuarial provider – for valuations, terminations, annual statements, pension adjustments etc. o Assist in drafting plan amendments and related government filings; schedule Pension Committee meetings and maintain minutes. o Produce annual calculation of employee pension contributions and process updates as required due to salary increases, leave of absence, etc. • Additional experience and knowledge in Compensation are an advantage: o Analyze salary increases; develop documents to create the compensation budget as a support to the compensation planning process. o Access and trend compensation and benefit surveys; compile and analyze market data for individual positions; prepare ad-hoc reports and data on compensation and benefits as required. o Provide inputs to the Finance Department to support the budget planning process. o Provide calculations for all groups based on company guidelines in relation to all aspects of compensation and track spending against budget. o Supports negotiations by providing compensation costing as well as economic and compensation forecasts and trends.
