Requirements: Ability to count and perform basic math, with and without a calculator. Able to read a tape measure accurately.
Mechanical aptitude and experience. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently. Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents as assigned. Ability to frequently lift and/or move heavy items or products, within reason. Ability to work well independently and cooperate with a team.
Able to multi-task in an environment with constantly changing priorities. Ability to communicate well with others and be detail-oriented. Work in a fast-paced environment with fast changing priorities Strong work ethic and superior attention to detail.
Standing, walking, sitting, reaching for extended periods. Willing to learn; adhere to work schedule and perform duties with a high degree of quality. Capable of using small hand tools safely.
Description: The General Labourer performs general manual labor tasks including: loading/unloading of machines, lifting and moving of materials. Assists in a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed. Has knowledge and capabilities using small tools. Motivated and can work independently and as part of a team.
Core Responsibilities: Perform general physical activities, ie: load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand and/or by using material handling equipment. Perform assembly/sub-assembly tasks accurately. Must have the ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative, be proactive and have a hands-on commitment to getting the job done. Communicate effectively with other coworkers, supervisors, and managers. Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency. Support senior team members and follow instructions as given accurately and efficiently. Assist with and/or support other duties and procedures as assigned and/or deemed necessary in the day-to-day operation. Assist with shop maintenance and cleaning i.e., sweeping, wiping down machinery, stock/inventory organizing, garbage removal. Material finishing: grinding, palm sanding, belt sanding etc.
OTHER: Comply with all safety protocols and procedures set forth in the OHSA, all company practices, procedures and codes of conduct, adhere to company Personal Protective Equipment Policy and participation in all Health and Safety training conducted by the company. Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
Keep work area clean and organized. Report any unsafe practices or dangers in the workplace to JHSC and/or Management. Please note: Current shop hours are Monday-Thursday 7am -4pm, Fridays 7am-2pm, however we would, in the future, likely transition back to having an afternoon shift (M-F Noon-9pm) that we would like to have in place and will be asking interviewees if this is something that they would be interested in assisting with.

Hours per week: Monday-Thursday 7am -4 pm, Fridays 7am-2pm; possible afternoon shift to be added in future. (40)
